Alex Molcan has booked a spot in the semi-finals of the Srpska Open. The young Slovak edged out Serbian tennis player Laslo Djere. They fought for each point but it seems that Molcan’s patience was a decisive factor.
After he secured his place in the semi-finals, Alex Molcan was in a very good mood and answered reporters’ question for almost 20 minutes.
“I was on the verge of losing the match but i fought because I’m a fighter. I always fight to the end”.
Molcan then praised tournament organisers as well as citizens of Banjaluka.
“I feel at home in Banjaluka. I come here every year. Everything is excellent: the hotel, the food, people, and I’m winning so everything is as it should be so far. I like everything. I love this tournament. The Centre Court is new and everything is great”.
The Slovak has discussed the rise of tennis in his home country but also mentioned the fact that he does not feel pressure because everyone is watching him.
“We’ve had great tennis players in the past but I don’t look at that in that way. The fact that we had good player doesn’t mean that automatically I think that I have to achieve superb results. Naturally, I want to, but not because of them but for myself. I’m winning for myself, for the team. I’m glad that fans are enjoying and supporting me. I would like to win every tournament I’m in and keep my Slovak fans happy. But I enjoy tennis. I don’t have a feeling that I have to win because of the players who played in the past.”
When he’s not playing tennis, the young tennis player underlines that it’s very important to him to relax and not to think about tennis.
“Not everything is about tennis. I try not to be preoccupied with tennis all the time but to do other things as well, to focus on other things too. Leisure activities are very important to me”, said Molcan.
