Laslo Djere is in the second round of the Srpska Open tournament. Djere defeated Roman Safiullin at the Centre Court in two sets (6:4, 6:2). In the next round, our tennis player will play against his good friend,
Borna Coric.
Before discussing his next rival, Djere summed up his impressions from his first match in Banjaluka.
“My opponent was better at the beginning of the match. However, I recovered quickly and broke his serve. I was under pressure in the first set, Safiullin was ahead in the match but I’m glad I finished the second set easily”, Laslo Djere explained.
Djere then talked about his next opponent. His next task won’t be an easy one. He is playing against Coric, who is often his sparring partner.
“We met three times in the past as opponents and every time we played three sets. I expect a serious fight and a difficult match. Borna is an excellent tennis player. One thing is for certain, it won’t be easy.
Unlike the tennis player from Croatia, this season Djere played much more matches on clay, which might turn in his favour.
“I don’t know if it is wise to talk about the key to victory ahead of the match. We know each other well, we sometimes even practice together, we are good friends, there aren’t many secrets. I haven’t thought about that match until now, as I focused on Safiullin. I will analyse the match with my coach. That’s for sure. When he has an on day, and serves well, then it is very difficult to return Borna’s serve, which is what happened in Hamburg. That’s his strong suit. I need to prepare tactics and strategy and step on the court ready to play and ready to fight. I also have to remain calm at certain moments, and be in control of my actions”.
