One of the best Swiss tennis players started his successful tennis career in 2001. One of his career-highs was a gold medal in the men’s doubles event at the 2008 Summer Olympics, partnering with Roger Federer. Wawrinka won his first ATP title at the Croatia Open Umag with Novak Djoković as his opponent in the final. Over the course of his long career, Wawrinka also won the Davis Cup with the Swiss national team in 2014. In 2014, he also won his first Masters 1000 title at a tournament in Monte Carlo when he defeated his fellow citizen Roger Federer. Wawrinka has three Grand Slam titles: Australian Open 2014, Rolan-Garros 2015 and US Open 2016. He reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 3.
