GaĆ«l Monfils is former junior world No. 1 also ranked as high as world No. 6 in singles by the ATP, the result he achieved after 44 victories in 2016. Monfils won the boys’ singles titles at the Australian Open, Roland-Garros and Wimbledon. His career-highs were his wins over the then-world No. 1, Rafael Nadal, in Doha in 2009 and 400th career singles win against Brown (Roland-Garros in 2017). He continued his winning streak in 12 matches and 25 sets in 2020 and won his 11th title at the international tennis tournament at Adelaide. Monfils is a player with one of the fastest forehands at the ATP tour with a reputation for showmanship on the court. Since he regularly uses slides to retrieve balls, even on hard courts, his nickname is Slider-Man.
