One of the best young tennis players Hamad Medjedovic has been truthful and said that it was his dream to play at a tournament with such major tennis stars such as Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka, Andrey Rublev etc.
“This is great. Everything is top-class. Naturally, this tournament means a lot to me, so many tennis stars are here; it’s an honour to be here and it’s a dream come true. I would like to play my best tennis here and I believe I can go far. However, I didn’t set any specific goal”, said Hamad Medjedovic who will play against Grégoire Barrère in the first round.
He has also commented on the tennis complex although he did not have much time to walk through Banjaluka since he arrived to Republika Srpska.
“Banjaluka is a beautiful city but I did not get the chance to get to know the city better. In terms of tennis courts, I can see that they are really good, although the weather is a bit cold. I hope it doesn’t rain. Everything else will be great”.
Medjedovic has also talked about his plans for the future after the Srpska Open.
“I plan to practice after this tournament for a week, and then compete at some challenger tournaments, followed by Roland-Garros.”
When it comes to his expectations for the continuation of the season, the young tennis player hopes that he will get better and better as the tennis season advances.
“I believe that I’m the key and if I play well and give all I’ve got to show what I know, I believe I can make a good result.”
Professional collaboration with Viktor Troicki is progressing well.
“I didn’t talk much with Victor. We usually talk before the match. We mostly get along great. We have been working together for a couple of months now.”
If he advances to the second round, Medjedovic will play against some of the Serbian players.
“I didn’t give it too much thought. I will focus to win in the first round. Then we’ll see. I do feel a pre-performance nervousness but a positive one. I believe that there will be many spectators, even some of my friends.”
Medjedovic is a Serbian tennis hopeful but he says that he doesn’t feel any pressure.
“I don’t think much about those comments regarding my future in tennis. I have a lot of work to do; I’m on the right path. The only thing I want to do is to give my best at every match, to progress every day, and we’ll see how far I can go”, Medjedovic concluded.
