On the first sunny day of the Srpska Open, Serbia’s Davis Cup captain Viktor Troicki took the opportunity
to play padel with Dusan Lajovic and Marko Djokovic. Djordje Djokovic joined them soon and the central
part of the tennis complex suddenly became crowded because all visitors wanted to see how this
relatively new sport game in our region looked like.
In the last couple of years, padel has become the trending sport across the globe, with the number of
people opting to play this racquet game increasing each day. Padel is a still relatively unknown sport fo
many, but already so popular that new clubs are formed each month.
Padel is usually played in doubles on an enclosed court. The court is one third of the size of a tennis
court. The scoring and rules are very similar to tennis although padel balls are similar to tennis balls but
have less internal pressure.
Dusan Lajovic also mentioned padel at today’s press conference. He praised Marko Djokovic and
underlined that Marko was the best padel player of them all so it doesn’t come as a surprise that
Novak’s next opponent chose to partner with Marko Djokovic.
Not so far away, Miomir Kecmanovic and Cacic were playing the real doubles match and the spectators
didn’t really know which way to go.
It was exciting both on both courts and this day at the Srpska Open tournament provided a lot of
entertainment and elite tennis all around.
